Is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre a true story? No, it isn't, which means that there are no crime scene photos or other such nonsense. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was very loosely based on the story of Ed Gein, a serial killer who was captured by the police at his farmhouse in Plainfield, Wisconsin on November 17, 1957. Gein was also the inspiration behind characters such as Norman Bates in Psycho and Buffalo Bill in Silence Of The Lambs. More information about Ed Gein can be found here, although I don't recommend reading it whilst eating. After all, reality is often stranger and far more gruesome than fiction. What song is playing during the bridge scene in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2? The song is called "No One Lives Forever" & was performed by a band by the name of Oingo Boingo. Written by Danny Elfman, Oingo Boingo's brilliant lead singer who later composed scores for films such as Batman, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, it was originally released on the album Dead Man's Party in 1985. Where can I buy The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 soundtrack? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 soundtrack was only released on cassette and LP (vinyl) by IRS Records in 1986. Legitimate copies of the soundtrack can be found from time to time on eBay or in stores that sell used records and cassettes, but it was never released on CD. Certain eBay sellers will claim that the soundtrack was released on compact disc and/or that the CD version is either "rare" or "collectible", but they're full of shit. It is not only possible, it's also very easy to transfer cassettes or LPs to CDs these days. All you need is a tape deck or record player, a sound card and a Y Audio Cable Splitter with 1 Mini Plug & 2 RCA Plugs. However, that doesn't give anyone the right to deceive people or profit from illegal activities. Why is The Devil's Playground only about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2? Lemme see here. Not to cop all kinds of attitude with you, but the last time I checked, it was my site to do with whatever I pleased. I am a fan of TCM2, so I created a site about TCM2. It sounds logical enough, doesn't it? No? Lemme 'splain. I realize that there are a lot of good horror sites out there that cover a vast array of cinematic treasures, whether they feature a series of films or all horror films that could be considered major motion pictures. HOWEVER, I felt that concentrating on one film would enable me to provide more resources and information to the general internet surfing public than spreading myself too thin. Make sense? In other words, if you'd like to visit a site that covers more than TCM2, you can do that. Not only can you do that, but you could even design and publish a site like that on the web! Nifty, eh? Why are you so disturbingly obsessed with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2? To be quite honest, I have always loved the horror genre and enjoy all aspects of it including films, literature and music. My obsession with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 stems from my youth though. It was a film that my friends and I used to watch (and quote) quite often, so I guess you could say that it represents that period in my life and brings back a lot of warm, fuzzy memories. Also, it kicks ass. Do you sell [insert random Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 related product or memorabilia item here]? No, I don't. This is strictly a fan site. I don't sell anything, buy anything. manufacture anything or profit from anything sold, bought or manufactured. In the past six years, I haven't made one red cent from the operation of this site, nor do I plan to start. Who is responsible for The Devil's Playground? I realize that there are more than a handful of people out there claiming my site as their own (and some are even cloaking it), but I can assure you that I am the only person who can take any credit for the design, operation and maintenance of this site. Who am I? I'm the violent femme pictured on the contact page. Quick English lesson: -ette is a female suffix, so my chosen internet identity implies a female version of Leatherface. Remember Smurfette? Oh, and all of you posers out there can kiss my lily white backside. Can you make certain scenes from the movie, cut scenes and/or all of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 available for download on your site? The short answer is no. The longer version is that I don't have enough webspace to upload any more videos, the technology to transfer cut scenes to digital media or the utter disregard for copyright laws that would be necessary to even comprehend that last request. I realize that TCM2 is either unavailable or hard to find in certain countries, but come on. No, seriously, come on. Before asking me to do utterly ridiculous things and/or spend my hard earned money buying webspace with a sufficient amount of bandwidth to host more multimedia related downloads, ask yourself what you've done for me lately. I'm guessing that your answer will be absolutely nothing. Where can I find the mp3 for [insert TCM2 soundtrack song title here]? I realize that, with very few exceptions, this is considered the "polite" way of asking me to send you an mp3. However, I am not going to commit a crime for a complete stranger, nor should anyone with half a brain in their head expect me to. If you'd like to own the mp3s for the songs on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 soundtrack, most of them can be found on compact discs released by their original artists (a complete list of albums will be forthcoming as soon as I find the blasted piece of paper I wrote all that info down on). And I know this seems downright unbelievable, but you can actually purchase these mysterious, shiny silver discs online from fine retailers such as Amazon.com or from private sellers on eBay. Gasp! I'm planning a trip to/through Texas. Can you tell me where The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was filmed? Most of the filming was done in Austin, Texas. If memory serves, the Chili Cook-off took place in the Austin Convention Center. The Austin American Statesman Newspaper building was another filming site (though I'm not sure what exactly was filmed there). The Sawyer family's hideout was located at the Prairie Dell Amusement Park near Belton, Texas which had already gone out of business when TCM2 was filmed & has since been destroyed. Cut-Rite, the chainsaw store Lefty shopped at, was a real store located in the outskirts of Austin at 1621 W. Fifth Street that has since gone out of business & reopened as a Johnny Cash tribute bar called the Mean-Eyed Cat. Also, according to Bill Moseley, the K-OKLA set was located in a building in downtown Austin that was slated for demolition. There ain't nothin' in Burkburnett, Texas though, so don't waste your time trying to find anything there. How can I contact [insert name of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 actor here]? Sadly, Jim "Drayton Sawyer/The Cook" Siedow passed away on November 20th, 2003. Bill "ChopTop" Moseley has an official site called ChopTop's Bar-B-Que and can be reached via email at choptopbbq@aol.com. Additionally, Bill "Leatherface" Johnson has an official site called Leatherface2.com and can be reached via email at leatherface@leatherface2.com, Caroline "Stretch" Williams made her horror convention debut at Texas Frightmare Weekend in February 2006 & has joined The Devil's Playground Forum to field questions and respond to comments from her fans, and Louis "L.G." Perryman should have a site up and running soon. What the heck happened to All American Massacre? According to a message I found at the All American Massacre's official site on January 31, 2006, "We are sorry, the All American Massacre Website has been closed. All American Massacre has been shelved, canceled, canned, etc... Too many reasons for a precise explanation. I wish all who were involved in the project good luck." What brand of chainsaw did Leatherface use in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2? Thanks to a little detective work done by ejones75@hotmail.com, we now know that Leatherface's saw in TCM2 was most likely a Stihl and used to be on display at Planet Hollywood in Dallas, Texas. Unfortunately, that particular Planet Hollywood has closed its doors sometime between then and now. Will a director's cut or special edition of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 ever be released on DVD? MGM released a 'Gruesome Edition' in the fall of 2006, just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. More information about the special edition will be added to The Devil's Playground at a later date. When are you going to add [insert something I've promised to add to The Devil's Playground in the past here]? Um, how about whenever the hell I feel like it? Again, I don't profit from this site, nor do I owe anyone anything. I have transcribed the first draft of the script, transcribed five TCM2 related articles, made a ton of wavs, copied DVD frames until my eyes bled and interviewed three of the actors from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (among countless other things). Although it has been a labor of love, it has still been labor. If you want to start paying me some sort of salary, you can demand that I add something in a timely manner. Otherwise, receiving a little appreciation for what I have done rather than focusing on what I haven't yet accomplished would be nice. I sent you an email. Why haven't you responded? Because I secretly hate you. Believe it or not, I have a life outside of this site, so I don't always have time to respond to all of the emails I get. I appreciate all of the wonderful comments I receive though, regardless of whether or not I reply to them right away. If you've asked me a question and fail to receive a response, chances are that the answer is here in the FAQs, you completely creep me out, you're a pest and/or I can't understand whatever the hell you've written. |
